Entitled Life a User's Manual, the central exhibition will survey and compile fragments from everyday life, as seen in both current artistic practices and historical art projects from the 1960s onwards.
The biennial has been developed through an extensive programme of curatorial research and will bring together a group of international artists who will engage in meaningful dialogues with the region’s artistic discourses and communities.
Ami Barak and Diana Marincu form the curatorial team of Art Encounters 2017.
In addition to the guided tours of the Art Encounters exhibitions, we offer to those interested in contemporary art a series of weekly meetings that interweave the visit of exhibitions with interactive discussions on the different stages in contemporary art history.
The initial discussions about artworks – with questions and answers for both the children and the adults – are followed by activities in which they apply attained concepts and collaborate in order to produce a “work of art”.
On Mondays, at 6 p.m., you are invited at La Două Bufnițe Bookshop for art book launches.
On Tuesdays, at 6 p.m., you are invited at AMBASADA for screenings and meetings with the artists.
On Friday evenings, after the official close of the exhibition, an artist will take you on a guided tour at the Corneliu Miklosi Public Transport Museum.
The Art Encounters Foundation is an independent cultural institution, which was set up in 2015. The projects of The Art Encounters Foundation are predominantly aiming at ensuring support for the development of the contemporary art scene in Romania.
