Urseni Water Plant

Urseni Way

The Urseni Water Plant is one of the first centralized water supply and purification systems in Europe. Surrounded by trees and a wild garden, the Plant is part of a group of four industrial buildings, dating back to 1914. The original, yet functional equipment extracts and transfers underground water, leading it directly to the homes of the city's inhabitants. Designed in Secession's architectural style by the local architect Laszlo Sekeley, the Plant building’s design is distinguished by its avant-garde look, similar to a flying saucer, which is specific to the strong affirmation of the Viennese expressionist style around World War I.
